A SWOT analysis is a strategic tool used by organizations to understand their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. In fact, organizations need to know their strengths and weaknesses and use them to capitalize on opportunities. The organizations selected for this study are Saudi Aramco, the King Khalid Foundation and the Al Hokea Group (Saudiaramco.com 2020). The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of selected companies that result from operating in this particular sector, as well as the strengths and weaknesses inherent in those companies. Therefore, this article provides a brief presentation of the selected companies and their strengths and weaknesses relative to the industry in which they operate, as well as their intrinsic strengths and weaknesses.
The King Khalid Foundation is a Saudi Arabia-based charity and family business of the late King Khalid. This family-run organization is therefore governed by a board of directors. All Foundation policies and practices are determined by the Board of Directors. Saudi Aramco is a natural gas and national oil company headquartered in Saudi Arabia. The company is one of the largest by revenue generation. Saudi Aramco’s main products include natural gas, petrochemicals and oil (Almaiman, McLaughlin, Al-Ashaab 2017). And Al Hokea Group is a tourism company based in Saudi Arabia. Belongs to the hotel and entertainment industry. The group was formed under the leadership of Sheikh Abdulmohsin Al-Hokea. Today, the group operates around 34 hotels and 79 entertainment centers in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. One of the biggest advantages Saudi Aramco offers is that it belongs to the oil and gas industry with a much greater potential in Saudi Arabia. This significant advantage stems from the fact that Saudi Arabia has the second largest oil reserves in the world and is also one of the largest oil exporters.
The King Khalid Foundation has an edge in that area as the Saudi government recently announced its plans for 2030. This mainly involves planning an ecosystem that remains focused on his three main sectors: the government sector, the non-profit sector and the private sector. Therefore, the government seeks to encourage and thereby increase the GDP contribution of these sectors. In addition, Saudi Arabia’s tourism and tourism sector also has good growth prospects. This is because tourism will be a priority in the country’s economic development plan for 2030 (Kkfeng.org 2020). One of the weaknesses of the oil and gas industry is government plans to reduce its dependence on oil reserves. One of the weaknesses of the non-profit sector is that domestic implementation takes too long, making the process lengthy. On the other hand, a big disadvantage of the tourism industry is that it becomes difficult to obtain a visa.
One of the King Khalid Foundation’s greatest strengths is that he provides employment for many local residents. One of the King Khalid Foundation’s greatest weaknesses is the exploitation of its workers. One of Saudi Aramco’s greatest strengths is that it has one of the lowest barrel-making costs in the world, but one of its greatest weaknesses is that the company suffers from governance problems.
One of Al Hokea Group’s greatest strengths is that its growth strategy is profitable, but one of their greatest weaknesses is that they are guided by certain cultural values. That is what makes it difficult for people from other countries and limits their activities (Alhokair.com). 2020).
Therefore, we can conclude from the above discussion that the strengths and weaknesses of a company should be identified in relation to the industry to which it belongs or its own organization. This is because knowing the company’s strengths allows us to take advantage of many opportunities in the external and internal environment. Additionally, by knowing their weaknesses, organizations can try to overcome them.
